The Hokkaido Ballpark, the new home of the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters, was built on land once reclaimed from Hokkaido’s forests. This place was once home to many animals, most notably the Ezo deer. Behind the development of this glamorous sports facility lies a forgotten history—one that invites us to reflect on the lives that once existed here. This artwork encourages us to rethink the future of urban development, not only for the sake of human activity, but with consideration for the many creatures that share this planet with us.
Inspired by the Ezo deer that once inhabited this land, the work captures its presence in an abstract, luminous form, evoking a sense of ethereal existence. Spheres placed throughout the piece reflect the spotlights that illuminate them, creating sparkling, dreamlike images of the deer.
