Stuyvesant Town Chronicle

A documentary film set in Stuyvesant Town in Manhattan, New York City. Originally built as affordable housing to address the postwar housing shortage, the complex later went bankrupt, was acquired by a private company, and reborn as a high-end condominium. Through interviews with residents, architects, and architectural historians from Columbia GSAPP, the film explores the dilemma of a housing complex that once served as affordable housing but has since become a highly sought-after luxury residence due to its prime location, as well as its current form as a partial compromise, in which a portion of the units continues to be offered as affordable housing.
